The PS2 Interface.
The
PS2 Interface was designed to provide a consistent interface standard for input peripherals, such as keyboards and pointing devices such as mice. The core functionality of almost all PS2 interfaces is handled by an Intel 8042 IC or a derivative of this IC. The PS2 interface has largely been superceded by USB interfaces.
