COLOPHON

This web site was originally written in 1996, but has undergone numerous changes subsequent to this. The current version of this website is written in XHTML using Cascading Style Sheets & Server Side Includes. This ensures it parses in a wide range of web browsers.

The web site was written using a combination of simple text editors - vi on Linux & Solaris, & Notepad & Editplus on Windows. It was decided not to use more advanced packages because advanced packages often prevent one from having complete understanding of the code, & tend to throw in extraneous code as well. This of course, only adds to file size, & hence increases bandwidth demands & slows download time.

Whilst filesize may not be a major issue, since the CyberThinc team are of the old school (assembly and C programmers), we place a premium on short, concise file size, at least in terms of structure to content ratio. In the long run, this is beneficial to our customers. Consequently, we strive to keep our HTML/XHTML page code size down. If the HTML/XHTML code in any of our pages is more than 10-15 Kilobytes, then there had better be a good reason!

Graphics

Graphics on this website were mainly created in Adobe Photoshop & Paintshop Pro (Windows), & The Gimp (Linux). In all cases, file sizes were reduced as far as possible, to reduce download time.

We know the pages are not the prettiest web pages on Earth, but we are strong believers that what visitors are interested in is content. In this instance, we hope the technical content in our information section is of use.
